Dinner at the Warehouse

I can't post these photos without giving a little history.

When Sydney first came to live with us at the sweet age of three she insisted on eating only ice cream, pancakes, and cereal. Of course, me being raised by the mom that I was, decided early on that this was not going to fly. After much trial and error we found a few other things she was willing to eat. Over time I have added items to her diet. She will now eat some vegetables and fruit including: bananas, apples if she must, cantaloupe, watermelon, peaches, carrots, corn, and her newest addition is cooked broccoli with butter on it.

Eating and mealtime at our house has always been a struggle for Sydney, as I was raised eating everything that was made and you eat it fast or you may not get any. There were six of us and I had three older brothers so we were grateful to get what we got. I may be just as stubborn as she is because I refuse to make a separate meal for her, especially when she wants pancakes. Call me cruel but I've learned that her tastes change from day to day depending on what she would rather be eating and her mood.

Eventually she realizes she likes something after you introduce it to her enough times. For example, she now claims cooked broccoli with butter is her favorite food. (It was a shock to all of us)

Well this is just another dinner at the warehouse.

  1. Awe, I love those pictures, and especially the way you did the collage! When she grows up she's going to be grateful she had a photographer for a mom because you take such good pictures of her. You're a good mom, Meili. I would just let her eat ice cream all the time.

  2. Ha! thanks April. I'm sure she would disagree. But some day she will thank me, right?

  3. Yeah someday. When she has a "Meili Moment," she'll thank you.

  4. I don't know if I would want to eat what you cook... Just kiddin! It looks sensational! She will find that she likes all kinds of things later when she has to buy them...and ice cream is expensive!

  5. I love these pictures and you made the moment look really cute, cause I've seen meal time at moms and sometimes its not that cute. Thats what you have to do to keep sane. Take the pictures so that the moment seems just a little lighter. Thats what I do when my boys decide its fun to see how far they can pee.
