Not in a morbid kind of way... I especially love old cemeteries and particularly old, beautiful headstones and monuments. When I was studying photography at the University of Utah I spent a lot of time at this cemetery. It is directly across the street from the school and I chose to do a project photographing there with my home made pinhole camera. I fell in love with this place and the peace and serenity that I feel when I am there. The key is to walk through very slowly and making sure to return to spots you've already visited. Not only are there some amazing treasures to be found but often you can see deer grazing or laying in the shade.

Wow, I love those pictures. I have seen deer grazing in there when I've driven past on the way to school sometimes. Did you know that symbol on the headstone in the last photo means that the person was a Mason? I know that because my grandparents were Masons. Well see ya later. And by the way, yes Ben would marry you if you asked today! Who wouldn't??! So do it!
ReplyDeleteI especially like the feel of the light in the first one. And the lens flare in the 2nd one.
ReplyDeleteThere is a really amazing cemetary just outside Nauvoo, IL. It is the cemetary of the early saints there. I went there once on my mission. It was such a peaceful, sacred place. I could FEEL them there; such an amazing experience for me that I will treasure forever.
ReplyDeleteApril yeah! there were a lot of headstones with that symbol and there was a sitting area that had that symbol on the ground. pretty cool stuff.
ReplyDeleteDani, I want to go there so bad. I'm sure it's amazing!
ReplyDeleteAdd that to my list of places to go.... :)
